Heathered Sage-Olive Rectangle Rope-Weave Carpet — Braided Outdoor Floor Rug
An outdoor rectangle rug woven from solution-dyed polyester rope in a single heathered sage-olive ground, laid in fine straight rows across the full width. Pigment runs through the full cross-section of the yarn rather than sitting on its surface, every length of cord carries a waterproof PVC core, and water runs off the cord surface instead of being taken into the rope — specified for patios, pool decks, balconies and terraces, and made to order for OEM and ODM programmes.
Product Highlights
Four specification points determine how this rectangular carpet performs: the row construction, the heathered colour system, the UV package, and the way the fibre manages water.
Straight Parallel Rows
Each row runs the full width of the piece and is seated against the next, so the face stays even and the long edges hold a straight, true line.
Colour Locked in the Yarn
Pigment is compounded into the polymer before extrusion, so the sage-olive shade runs through the whole filament instead of being printed onto the face where it can abrade away.
UV-Stabilised Cord
Light stabilisers are added at the extrusion stage to slow photo-degradation and surface chalking. The rope carries a three-year outdoor colour rating.
Waterproof PVC Core
Every cord carries a waterproof PVC core, so water has nowhere to travel inside the rope. The carpet resists swelling and odour after rain, spillage or pool splash.
Construction, Explained
A woven rope carpet is only as good as the yarn it is built from and the way one row is seated against the next. Each element below is a manufacturing decision, not a decorative one.
Parallel Row Weave
Cord is braided first, then laid in straight passes across the width of the piece, each row seated against the previous one. Tension is held constant from edge to edge, which is why the rectangle stays true and the surface stays level underfoot.
Waterproof PVC Core
Each rope length is built around a waterproof PVC core rather than being solid fibre. Water runs off the cord surface instead of being taken into the rope, which is what lets the carpet dry out again after rain.
Stitched Row Lock
Every row is tied to its neighbour with a fine high-tenacity synthetic thread, run inside the braid valley so it is not exposed to foot traffic and grit cannot lift the rows apart.
Even Row Pitch
Spacing is held constant from one edge to the other, keeping the fine cord lines regular rather than drifting or bunching — the detail that separates a machined weave from an improvised one.
Bound Edge on the Long Sides
The two long sides are closed with a matching braid bind, so the long perimeter reads as a defined line and no raw rope end is left exposed to fray or work loose in service.
Low, Stable Profile
The low-profile weave clears door thresholds and furniture bases without creating a trip lip, and resists riding up at the edge over time.
Inside the Cord: A Waterproof PVC Core
The rope is a composite rather than a single fibre: each length is built around a waterproof PVC core, with solution-dyed polyester filament worked over it. That construction is why this outdoor rug sheds water on a wet terrace instead of taking it in.
Feature · PVC Core Construction
A waterproof PVC core runs through the centre of each rope length, with solution-dyed polyester filament worked over it.
Advantage · Sheds Water, Holds Shape
Water runs off the cord surface rather than being taken in, so the rope stays dimensionally steady in wet weather instead of swelling out of pitch.
Benefit · Dries Out, Stays Fresh
After rain or pool splash the cord surface air-dries instead of staying wet, so the carpet does not pick up the damp smell that cotton and jute rugs develop outdoors.
The usual failure mode of outdoor textiles is a rug whose body stays wet long after the surface looks dry. Here the core is the barrier, not the sponge.
Why Solution-Dyed Heathered Rope
Masterbatch is blended into the molten polymer before the fibre is extruded, so the sage-olive shade is locked through the entire cross-section of the yarn. That single decision drives most of what follows.
Solution-Dyed, Not Printed
There is no colour layer to abrade away. The shade will not rub off, fade patchily or bleed onto decking, and it carries a three-year outdoor colour rating well beyond that of piece-dyed rope.
UV-Stabilised Throughout
Stabilisers are carried in the yarn rather than sprayed on afterwards, shielding the filament from photo-degradation, chalking and embrittlement under sustained exposure.
Dimensional Stability
The high-tenacity core keeps elongation low. The weave holds its geometry under sustained furniture load instead of stretching, sagging or losing its row pitch.
Abrasion and Flex Resistance
The smooth filament face absorbs friction at every crossover, so braid-to-braid contact under foot traffic wears far more slowly than a twisted, fibrous rope.
Heathered Blend Conceals Soil
Muted green, olive and stone-grey filaments are blended together before winding. The heathered ground visually absorbs crumbs, dust and footprints between cleanings.
Wipe-Clean Surface
Soil stays on the surface instead of penetrating the fibre. Most marks release with water and a mild detergent, and the surface dries quickly afterwards.
The practical result is a rope that behaves the same way on a sun-exposed terrace as it does under a covered loggia: colour held at filament level, no water retained in the fibre, and a geometry that does not relax under load.
Performance Under Real Conditions
Sun Exposure
Colour is rated for three years of direct outdoor use. Because the pigment sits inside the filament, sunlight degrades the surface far more slowly than it does a printed alternative.
Rain and Poolside
Water runs off the cord surface rather than pooling on the face, and the PVC core inside every cord does not take it up. The surface dries again after a downpour, so the terrace is usable quickly.
Foot and Furniture Load
The braid cushions underfoot while holding a firm, level surface. Chairs and tables sit without rocking, and the weave recovers its shape once the load is removed.

What It Does for the Space
Defines the Zone
The rectangular footprint sets a straight line against decking and paving, so a seating group reads as one defined area without needing a furniture layout to explain it.
Soft Landing Underfoot
Springy braided cord feels warm and forgiving under bare feet, even over hard stone, tile or deck boards.
A Grounded Natural Shade
The heathered sage-olive sits with timber decking, stone paving, rattan and green planting: a grounded accent that reads considered rather than loud.
Moves With the Season
Light enough for one person to lift and roll, so it can go under cover for winter or be shifted out of the sun without needing two people.
Where It Works
The rectangular format suits a defined outdoor group: a lounge set on a terrace, a dining table under a pergola, or a pair of sun loungers beside a pool. Laid on decking, stone or timber it air-dries after rain, so the space is usable again quickly instead of staying wet underfoot. Sheltered indoor rooms work as well, but this carpet is specified first for open-air use.
OEM and ODM Programme
Carpets are coil-woven and braided in our own facility from rope we specify and control ourselves, which keeps size, format, shade and lead time under direct control rather than at a subcontractor's schedule.

Rope and Colour Run
Polyester rope is compounded to the approved shade and checked for batch-to-batch consistency.
Braid and Row Laying
Cord is braided to the confirmed pitch, then laid in parallel rows to the agreed size with tension held constant.
Inspection and Packing
Size, squareness, edge integrity and shade are checked before rolling and export packing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the rope made of?
Solution-dyed polyester filament worked over a waterproof PVC core. The core gives the cord its body and keeps water out of the rope; the filament carries the colour, which is compounded in before extrusion rather than printed onto the face. The result is a cord that holds its colour in sunlight and sheds water in wet weather.
How does a rectangular format differ from a round one in manufacture?
Rows are laid in straight parallel passes across the full width rather than wound in concentric coils, and the two long sides are bound so the long edges hold a straight line. Corners are trimmed square, which is what keeps the format true when it is laid against a wall or under a table.
What happens to it in rain?
Water runs off the cord surface instead of being taken into the rope, because the PVC core inside every cord takes up no water. The surface air-dries after a downpour, and the carpet resists the swelling, mildew and musty odour that damp natural fibre develops.
How is it cleaned and maintained?
Vacuum it, or hose it down and let it air-dry flat. Work any stubborn marks with a mild detergent solution and a soft brush. Soil stays on the smooth filament face rather than penetrating the fibre, so most marks release with water alone.
Can the size, format and shade be customised?
All three are made to order. Rectangles from 120 × 180 cm up to 200 × 300 cm are standard, square and bespoke formats can be quoted, and the heathered palette, row pitch, edge finish, label and packaging can be matched to an existing range.
